How It Started

Back in 2017, Stu first fired up a wood-fired oven in his Carshalton Beeches back garden. What began as a bit of weekend experimenting soon turned into something more— a passion. Learning the craft, perfecting dough, and hosting pizza nights for friends and family. Somewhere along the way, that curiosity grew into a real passion, and he knew it was only a matter of time before it became something bigger.

In the summer of 2025, after 25 years in the corporate world, Stu decided it was time for a change. Inspired by a trip to Naples—the spiritual home of pizza—he swapped the desk for dough and set out to turn that passion into something real. Drawing on his experience in the outdoor living sector, he spotted an opportunity: could a pizza pop-up work at a local garden centre?

After meeting with Polhill Garden Centre, a three-month trial was agreed and Beech St Pizza was born.

Of course, no great venture happens alone. Stu teamed up with his long-time friend and former bandmate Billy, and with a shared love of food, music and adventure, the dream team was back in business.
